M/Y Newal

M/Y Newal is a 1988 Heesen built in aluminium. She arrived at our yard at 28 m, after about two years lying idle in the marina. We fitted a new aluminium transom and swimming platform that took her to 31.8 m. We laid about 180 m² of new teak and rebuilt the whole interior. We renewed the electrical and seawater systems and overhauled both Detroit Diesel main engines. The rebuild took 15 months from the first drawings to redelivery.

She had been lying in the marina for about two years with no maintenance. Her new owner bought her in 2021 and came to us with his architect. The design work started at the end of that season, in September 2021, with several alternatives drawn for the interior and the exterior. The worklist began as a refit. Once the transom extension and the raised saloon ceiling went onto the list, it became a rebuild: a refit renews what is there, a rebuild changes the structure, the length or the height. Within two weeks the owner, the architect and our project team had agreed the worklist, the schedule and the budget, and we signed the contract. The owner visited the yard three times in 15 months and followed the rest of the work through his architect and our reports.
