Chase Boat

A chase boat is a fast support craft that operates with a yacht during guest movements, watersports, and daily logistics. On many yachts it functions as a working tender that can move quickly between the main yacht, shore, and activity areas.

Typical tasks include guest transfers, crew runs, tow-sports support, dive drop-offs, filming, security observation, and carrying equipment needed away from the mothership. The term describes the boat’s role more than a single design type, so a chase boat may be a rigid inflatable, centre-console, or another high-performance tender. It sits below a shadow vessel in scale and endurance, but has a more active operational role than a basic tender used only for short trips.
