The 35-metre Heesen motor yacht Opus II has arrived at the KRM Yacht Refit & Rebuild facility for a refit. Opus II’s interior and exterior areas will be redesigned by the studio Red Yacht Design, and the refit is due to be completed within 18 months.
Originally delivered in 1997, Opus II features exterior design by Francesco Paszkowski, interior design created by Evan K Marshall, and naval architecture imagined in-house by her Dutch shipyard.
At a volume of 271 GT, the yacht is capable of hosting as many as six staterooms across a three stateroom layout, consisting of one owner’s suite and two double staterooms. The refit will see Opus II’s three stateroom layout get upgraded to five staterooms total. A new captain’s cabin will also be added to Opus II’s wheelhouse.
The refit will involve repainting her hull and superstructure, replacing all teak decks with Esthec, rebuilding the transom area and making an extension to include a three-metre swimming platform.
KRM Yacht will also be reconfiguring her flybridge area to add a new Jacuzzi, a bar, and a sun bathing area. The refit also includes redesigning and manufacturing a new hardtop, the installation of a new audio and visual entertainment system.
Regarding her performance, Opus II is powered by twin MTU engines that propel her to a cruising speed of 29 knots and a top speed of 35 knots. The refit will see the overhauling of her MTU engines and a redesigning of her engine room. Two new Zero speed stabilisers will be installed so that those onboard can enjoy a smooth, comfortable journey.
According to KRM Yacht Refit & Rebuild, “The Managing Director, Kerem Başer, emphasised that rebuilding is not only a sustainable choice but also a cost-effective solution for clients. KRM Yacht’s commitment to sustainability is crucial in their rebuild projects, which prioritise eco-friendly practices.”
